We offer a wide variety of social and recreational rides for fun and fitness. There’s something for every age and ability!
Where do we ride? Most day-rides are in and around Calgary, Bragg Creek, Cochrane, Okotoks, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise. Multi-day tours take us further from home – for example the Shuswap, Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Maritimes, California and Mexico.
When do we ride? Every day of the week, both daytime and evening rides.
How far do we ride? Distances range from 20 km pathway rides to 200 km road rides, and everything in between.
How fast do we ride? Depending on the group and the route, our average pace may be 15-19 km/hr on pathways, 20-24 km/hr on intermediate road rides, and 25-30 km/hr on advanced and advanced+ road rides.
Who plans and organizes the rides? All rides are planned and coordinated by our dedicated volunteers!
How do I choose which rides to do? To help you find the rides you’ll enjoy the most, we rate our rides in categories from Easy to Advanced+, based on distance, elevation gain and expected pace. All ride descriptions provide information about the ride format, route/map, and safety considerations.
We ride all the classic (and some unique) routes in and around Calgary, Okotoks, Cochrane, Kananaskis, Banff and Lake Louise. On our group road rides, you can socialize and take in the scenery, climb hills or train for Gran Fondos. Advanced+ rides offer opportunities for skilled riders to draft and paceline, where and when conditions allow groups to do so safely.
Some of our favourite road routes: Springbank, Rocky Ridge and Bearspaw, The Cochrane Hill, Horse Creek/Grand Valley, Madden area, Highwood Pass (North and South), Road to Nepal, Priddis/Millarville area, Bragg Creek area, and Banff to Lake Louise.
EVCC offers a variety of mountain bike cross country and trail rides for different types of riders. Enjoy the company of others while you feel the excitement and fun of being out on the trails. EVCC also offers tips for newer riders.
Some of our favourite mountain biking areas: Nose Hill Park, West Bragg Creek, Goat Creek, Little/Big Elbow Loops, and High Rockies and other Kananaskis trails.
Urban and Pathway Rides
Calgary has the most extensive urban pathway and bikeway network in North America. The City maintains approximately 1,000 km of regional pathways and we explore them all through our creative urban rides. Our Calgary city rides regularly run mid-week, when pathways may be less busy. For a change of scene, we also visit pathways outside of Calgary.
Get off the main roads and enjoy some great riding with little or no traffic. These rides may include pavement, gravel and dirt pathways all in one ride! Explore less traveled routes and soak up some great Alberta scenery!
Some of our favourite rides are near Cochrane, south of Calgary, near Water Valley and the Ghost area. More routes are being discovered all the time.
We are known for our premier tour, the Golden Triangle. We do many other multi-day and multi-week rides as well! Our tours explore beautiful cycling regions in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. You’ll ride by lakes, oceans, rivers and mountains… see birds, flowers, and wildlife… visit cafes, wineries, and other attractions. These trips are researched and planned carefully by our volunteers to ensure you have great places to eat, sleep, and ride, with lots of time to get to know your travel companions.
Tours vary from year to year. Past multi-day trips have included:
